Start collecting
Character, park, or set — pick a lane and make it yours.
Pick a lane. Any lane.
New collectors burn out fastest when they try to collect "everything." There are 100,000+ official Disney pins. You cannot own them all, and trying makes the hobby feel like homework.
The antidote is focus. Pick one lane below and let the rest wash over you.
Five good starter lanes
A character you love — Every Stitch pin. Every Belle pin. Every Eeyore. This is the most fun and the easiest to explain to non-collectors.
A park or land — EPCOT pins only. Disneyland 50th anniversary pins only. Great if you are a park superfan.
A set — "All 12 pins in the 2024 Hidden Mickey Villains series." Clear start, clear finish.
A type — Only pin-on-pin pins. Only puzzle pins. Only spinner pins. Aesthetic-driven, very visual.
A year or era — Only pins from 2010. Only Walt-era pins (pre-1970). Deeply rewarding for archival-minded collectors.
Budgeting
Give yourself a monthly pin budget and stick to it. $25/mo will comfortably grow most collections.
Prioritize one grail pin at a time rather than spreading across many low-value pins. You will be happier owning one $80 dream pin than twenty $4 dupes.
Star every pin in your lane as wishlist. Browse by character or franchise to see how many exist. The list becomes the hunt.
